Carrot Juice

For a health and beauty boost drink a cup of carrot juice daily.

Carrot juice contains many nutrients and trace elements. One glass (8oz/240mls) of juice contains enough beta carotene for our body to convert into +/- 8 times our daily requirement of vitamin A. It also contains and excellent amount of vitamin K; very good amounts of vitamins C and K, and potassium; and good amounts of vitamins B1, B3, and B6, manganese, phosphorus, magnesium and folate. Carrot juice has an alkalizing effect on the blood.

Vitamin A is essential for healthy mucous membranes, glandular function, hair, skin and eye sight. It promotes growth of bones and teeth, aids in the resistance to infections, and is needed for good blood circulation. Expectant and breast feeding mothers should make sure they add vitamin A rich veggies to their diet for both the health of mother and baby.

Vitamin K1 helps maintain bone mass, functions as an antioxidant, and for the vital function of blood clotting when a blood vessel is damaged either from an external wound or internally. Potassium plays an important role in muscle contraction, nerve transmission, and maintaining a healthy electrolyte balance and fluid level in the cells of your body.

Note: Drinking over 1 pint / 1/2 litre per day of carrot juice could overload the liver.

Other vegetables can be added to increase carrot juice's nutrition and health factors:
Carrot, celery and parsley - Cleanses the system of excessive acid.
Carrot and beet - Good for circulation and high blood pressure.
Carrot and Cabbage - Detoxing the intestinal track.
Carrot , Beet and Cucumber - Excellent for cleansing the gall bladder, kidneys and the glands.
Potassium Broth (see below) - Flushes system of toxins, poisons and unwanted salts and acids. Vitamins and mineral boost.

Carrot pulp can be used in many ways. Pet food, in pasta sauces, in muffins, in veggie burgers and as a last resort on the compost heap.

Carrot juice is not only a beauty aid internally but also externally. Externally, it will condition stressed skin and help it maintain its natural resilience. It is very calming to irritated or sunburned skin and will remove blemishes and pigmentation if used regularly.

So don't forget to pick up a bag of organic carrots the next time you shop.

Ooh, look at me smiling out from your EntreCard today! You would not believe what goes on here at night when you are fast asleep. I think someone came in with a Big Mac! Don't worry, what happens with Roxy stays with Roxy....thanks for letting me "advertise" with you.

LOL doesn't worry me Roxy, it's their arteries that get bunged up with cholesterol not mine. Plus of course that particular company cannot advertise their products as healthy so make you think doesn't it?

ok, I can use it for a mask...but I can't drink it....LOL And, now I know what to do with those carrots that go uneaten for a few days.

Yum, yum, yum! One of my favorite juices is carrot, ginger, and apple. It's a party on your tongue, and it makes me feel like Popeye when he eats his spinach - the energy just surges through me!

I have to say to "health nut wannabee mom" and the others out there who aren't too sure about it- I hate carrots, but love carrot juice if it is mixed with a sweeter juice.

Great job, this is a great post! :)

I've always loved carrots both raw and steamed, now I have even more reasons to love them! Great info!

I love carrot juice very much as I know that it is good for us, but I don't know in detail on its nutrient's, thanks for the info. I fall in love with your blog already

Hello Jackie. :-)

You and mom would get along pretty well. She loves everything herbal and natural. She makes her own masks before going to big ceremonies, whether it be honey, apricots or oranges. The results are pretty. :-)

And carrot juice! YUM! :-)

I've heard carrot juice is really good for you Jackie. Unfortunately I'm not a lover of carrots so it's not something I would ever drink. I hated carrots as a child and as a result have really bad eyesight now! When did you ever see a rabbit wearing glasses!
