November 25th is the International White Ribbon Day speaking out against violence against women and it is the beginning of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence.Forms of gender-based violence include, but are not limited to, domestic violence, sexual abuse, rape, sexual, harassment, trafficking in women, forced prostitution, and harmful traditional practices. In addition, women’s multiple and intersecting identities based on factors such as class, race, ethnicity, religion, descent, sexuality and citizenship status can serve to increase their subordination and vulnerability to violence. It is estimated that one in three women throughout the world will suffer some form of gender-based violence in her lifetime.

25 Nov: International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (White Ribbon Day)
29 Nov: International Women Human Rights Defenders Day
1 Dec: World AIDS Day
3 Dec: International Day of Disabled Persons
6 Dec: Anniversary of the Montreal Massacre
10 Dec: Human Rights Day & 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The 16 Days Campaign is commemorated by individuals and groups around the world who use a human rights framework to call for the elimination of all forms of violence against women by supporting women human rights defenders, working towards ending violence against women, strengthening gender equality structures and expanding financing for gender equality.
